In 1985 I was invited to England’s Unicorn Theatre to direct and adapt New Canadian Kid for their audience in the West End. Nick Barter, the Artistic Director at the time, asked me to write a companion piece for it based specifically on the British experience. I spent time speaking with kids in Brixton and wrote this play based on those discussions. It was a very fulfilling experience staging the plays at the Arts Theatre and the icing on the cake was winning the British Theatre Award.
